The software provided with this manual includes an ftp client so that you can ftp
your pages and files to the server :-
This is done by using the standard FTP protocol. Just run your FTP client and proceed as
follows:
1) Give your web domain name as the host (ie www.corp.com) if you do not have a domain
give www.u-net.com as the host . For users ftping to their ftp space give ftp.u-net.com as
the host.
2) Give the user name allocated as per your joining letter (usually it will begin www for
web accounts and ftp for ftp space accounts)
3) Give the password again as allocated- making sure to use lower case.
All other options should be left blank or on self detect.
The FTP account should then be opened. On the host you will already be logged into your
own web or ftp directory.
The pages and files are effective as soon as uploaded. With ws_ftp you can set up all the
parameters for the session including local directory and carry out the FTP just by
clicking on buttons.
For command line ftp on use the "PUT" command to upload a file and use the
"GET" command to download a file. To get a list of commands type
"help" at the prompt.
Care should be taken to upload programs, images and other non text files in binary mode.
Two parts of the FTP site may be of interest. Their URL's are:
ftp://ftp.u-net.com/pub/ - our public FTP area for
anonymous FTP. This an area managed by U-NET and if you do put links to it please check
them now and again.
ftp://ftp.u-net.com/com/ - this is where the EasyTwo IP
customers have their FTP sites. Hence if your FTP directory is snug then it URL is:
ftp://ftp.u-net.com/com/snug/
If you have requested FTP space we give you an FTP account with its own username and
password. To upload files to your directory simply use FTP as for your web pages but
substitute the FTP username and password for your www ones, and ftp to the host
ftp.u-net.com. We suggest that as with the web space you make a mirror of your FTP site on
your PC.
