Stats are now provided on a weekly basis. They run from Monday morning through to Monday morning the following week.

For accounts with domains, stats are collected into a "domain.Log" file as they happen. The domain.Log runs from Monday to Monday. You should not delete or alter the "domain.Log" as your stats will stop working - this is the file where the stats are currently being placed.

On a Monday the "domain.Log" is moved to "domain.last" . The "domain.last" is the complete file containing the stats for the previous week.

We back the files up for a further 3 weeks so that every Monday the following happens

domain.2 -> domain.3

domain.1 -> domain.2

domain.last -> domain.1

domain.Log -> domain.last

a new domain.Log is created

In addition to this the "domain.last" will be analysed to provide a "domain.html" - this is an analysis of your previous weeks stats in html format. You should download this along with your domain.last weekly. The domain.html is not backed up so you must download it on the week in question.

For EasyTwo accounts that are accessed by their directory (ie http://www.u-net.com/{yourdir} ) the stats are put into a "dir.Log" file on a Monday and contain the previous weeks stats.

We back the files up for a further 4 weeks so that every Monday the following happens

Please note dir.Log contains last weeks stats and is not currently receiving entries for the current weeks being compiled like "domain.Log".

On a Monday the following will happen :-

dir.2 -> dir.3

dir.1 -> dir.2

dir.last -> dir.1

dir.Log -> dir.last

7a new dir.Log is created

In addition to this the "dir.Log" will be annualised to provide a dir.html - this is an analysis of your previous weeks stats in html format. You should download this along with the new "dir.Log" weekly. There will also be 4 weeks backups of dir.html.

For those of you whose sites are browsed by domain and directory both of the above will be provided.

Please make sure that you back up your new stats every week - you will lose a stats dir after four weeks and will not be able to regain it so please keep the data safe.

The program used to analyse your stats is called Analog. It will give you a weekly output telling you the number of visitors,the number of individual hosts, the host names of all the visitors, and a breakdown of visitors by time and by day. Analog also provides you with a list of which sites people used to get to your site, which includes pages that link to your page and terms used to locate your page via search engines, which provides valuable information on your website. Take a look at an example analysis.
