U-NET are now offering htaccess password
protection to all their Easytwo users. Users are not able to set this up themselves and so
should mail E2 help specifying the domain name, the
subdirectory, the user id and the password that they require. Users are unable to set this
up as it involves shutting off material from the secure server and adding information to
the domains configuration files. If you wish to add more users to the password file or
remove users you should use ftp to gain access to the password protected directory and
upload the .passwd file to your hard drive for alteration. We have provided the following utility for online password creation
- simply enter the userid and password and it will give you the line to cut and paste to
your password file.
Alternatively, you may like to download the following program for windows 95/98 and NT
(although it runs from a DOS window). Htpasswd.exe
With this program it is possible to create a complete
username/password file and add and remove users to/from it.
Try htaccess out (user is mrman and password
is jelly both lower case) on here on our server
